In today’s world, many people find that they feel anxious a lot of the time, and they may need professional help learning how to manage it. By speaking with a psychologist and making some changes to their mindsets and routines, they can get on the path toward feeling better.

To start, people should keep in mind that they cannot control many things going on in their lives and in the lives of others. They should instead focus on what they can control, cultivating positive, rather than negative thoughts, and try to find humor in situations whenever possible. They should remember that our thoughts are not always facts and many of the negative things we predict never actually happen. Instead of beating themselves up for not achieving goals, they should take pride in the progress they make towards their goals.

As well as making mental shifts, enacting some healthy lifestyle changes can also help with anxiety management. For instance, caffeine and alcohol tend to make anxiety worse. Prioritizing sleep can also help, as people need more rest when they are dealing with anxiety. Exercise can also improve mood, as can sticking to a healthy diet.
